Sling shot fishing

I saw this last month in Indonesia. It is their version of Bow fishing. I thought it was really cool. I wish the video turned out because the results are impressive.

The stainless steel shaft has a barb on the front and spectra is attached to the back. Once inserted into and through the cylinder, the rear of the shaft is held in place under the leather piece by thumb pressure. There is an actual handle behind the cylinder portion.

The slingshot has a line (instead of a pocket) which attaches to the front, barb portion of the shaft (held in place with thumb pressure). The bands are pulled back and when thumb pressure is released, the shaft flies straight, trailing the spectra behind it as it unwinds off the cylinder.

I would love to try hunting Corbina in the shallows with this.

Pictures should explain it better than I did.

Cool. How about the Water Kite Fishing? Something to know about if you will be diving in the currents... I narrowly avoided a Hellraiser Nightmare death by 10,000 hooks..

Jon,

I just saw this. I finally saw the water kites you were talking about off of Nusa Penida a few months after you responded. We almost hit one in the boat as guys were shouting from shore. Awas Awas! I was wondering how the water kite worked. Do they troll baited hooks or lures?
