Re: Railgun, who makes the best?

it might be just me, but i never made the separation of "euro" guns and southern hemispherical "rail" guns... when did that happen? i always just thought of all rear handled pipeguns and wood guns modeled in the same fashion, as euros.

You're all right. This poll/thread was ill-devised from the start. Railgun, originally, was trade name Rob Allen used for his guns, period. With time, the term became in the US, NZ and Australia a generic designation for guns with full length guide of European conception (not origin) made in South Africa, then Australia and, now, you guessed, US.

Only in English-speaking countries the term railgun is used. In the end of the day it doesn't matter. By seniority, IMHO, Railguns should be only Rob Allen's. But even he uses the term as a generic designation.

Re: Railgun, who makes the best?

Changing bands, shafts, wishbones and shooters will affect accuracy more than the gun itself. My Aimrite Venom is awesome and has taken down many tuna, wahoo, reef fish and the monster Cubera on the cover of Spearing Magazine that Kevin posted.
The railgun concept is nothing new however the componets used have improved with new large diameter carbon fiber barrels, high tech muzzles, superior trigger mechs, and better designed handles. A super strong well made gun that shoots great and comes with the best customer service is why I like the Aimrite guns.
All of the guns in the pole are decent and can be made to shoot well when properly rigged, but when you compare the guns componets you will see why there is a price difference.
Let quality and customer service be you guide

Re: Railgun, who makes the best?

At one time most (not all) Euroguns seemed to come with no full track or rail. When that was the case Railgun ment a gun with Rail that RA coined. Now that doesn't seem to be the case so really railguns and euroguns are the same thing yet the phrase remains. Now when I hear the word Railgun it usually refers to a rear handle pipe gun not from Europe like RA, Rabitech, AimRite, Pelaj.... When I hear Euro gun its usually refering to Omer, Picasso, Sporasub...

Re: Railgun, who makes the best?

I've used Rob Allen and Rabitech. Both have good points and bad. The Rob Allen feels more solid the way the handle/mech is attatched to the barrel and also the barrel to the muzzle than my Rabitech did. However, the safety on the Rob Allen absolutely SUCKS! It's so hard to move when the gun is cocked that I just started taking the safety off as soon as I got it loaded. The safety on the Rabitech worked just fine when the gun was loaded. Take it for what it's worth. I'm building a hybrid

Yeah, but are your wood guns open track railguns, or enclosed track?

Re: Railgun, who makes the best?

Are C4 guns considered Rail Guns? Don't think any other Rail gun can compare to that Urukay for power.. nor some of them other ones for damn sexiness.

Re: Railgun, who makes the best?

This is an old thread but after 4 years none of these guns have changed or upgraded the design of their handles except the HammerHead Evolution, now the Evolution^2.

In 2012 the HammerHead Evolution^2 was the #1 Selling Railgun in the US (by sales units). If you look at the ergonomic grips of the handle it's easy to see why the Evolution^2 has been so popular. Once you hold the gun in a shop, you can really feel the difference between the railguns. Also the E2 Handle is stonger and more robust then some of the guns above because of the SS plate above the shaft. This plate (or pin in the RA's) is very important as a metal shaft can wear-down the plastic above it, over time the shaft can jump the sear if there is play above it.

HammerHead Evolution^2 the newest handle design, accurate, and there is a Go Pro Camera Mount specifically designed for the gun.
