Re: Utah Visibility Overview (please contribute!)

that sucks, were you shore diving. I think all of the shore diving is prety well used and not many big fish. Did you see many carp on your dive? I was thinking about heading up in the next few days and try to get my boy his first fish. Thanks

Boil some water and toss the unbroken eye into the water. Sometimes the eye breaks open and other times it just stays whole. If you boil it longer it is better. Take the pearl out and let dry. (If you don't boil the pearl for long enough they will go chalky and crack.) Let them dry over night. It takes a couple tries, but you'll get the hang of it. Supposedly you can do it to any eyes, but I've only tried walleye. The bigger the eye the better. To remove the eye from the fish, I take my knife and run it straight down the side and cut the clear layer and then you can pop it out and cut the back stuff off. I think it works best when you don't break it. I should make a video.

Re: Utah Visibility Overview (please contribute!)

I went to deer creek last weekend and saw a bunch of carp. How deep do you have to dive to see walleye and trout?
I'm new to the fresh water and it's taking some adjusting.

Re: Utah Visibility Overview (please contribute!)

I was there yesterday and found walleye around 10ft. You mostly just have to find an area they are in. they move around a lot. Look for rocky areas with cliffs/drop offs/shelves. Thats where I seem to find them most. Ive only ever seen like 2 trout in deer creek and they were recently planted ones in the shallows or near the surface.
