Spearfish/Travel internationally for cheap

I'm looking to travel and do some spearfishing in the months of April-July. I'm looking into Mexico, Nicaragua, and Indonesia. Does anyone have any leads or recommendations? I have a buddy who can set me up with a hostel in San Jaun Del Sur for $8 a day and work a little. I figured I would try this forum out since most people are pretty adventurous on here.

Re: Spearfish/Travel internationally for cheap

I did Indo(Bali and Lombok) last year for a couple weeks for a spear and scuba trip. Super cheap there and pretty great diving. Depending on what you need for lodging you can find something for 10-15 bucks per day. Indospearfishing has a decent outfit in Bali and there is another guy name Mario that does a charter too.

SJDS has some decent shore diving up by Madera. Not many good places close to SJDS but there are some good spearos who live there. Bringing a gun in to Nica is still hit or miss.

I would go to Lombok. Out of Kuta, there is an American who knows the area really well. Steve Bluebacore is his name on SB. We shot a ton of fish and great variety together. Super fun.

Spearo operators in Bali tend to be pretty price if you are on a budget. There are fun fads to hunt in the north.

Mexico is can be great and local knowledge is very helpful. Charters can be expensive.
