Effects of Rising Water Levels in Utah

With several drainage areas getting over 200% snow pack this year we will see a lot of our lakes filling back up.
Any predictions for how all the extra water and rising levels will effect the diving this year? Has anyone been out and noticed any changes in visibility or fish activity as opposed to this time the last few years?
My guess is that the rise In water levels will increase spawning habitat and result in better fish numbers a year or two down the road.

Re: Effects of Rising Water Levels in Utah

I posted today in the Utah Visibility forum, but I'll mention it here too. I believe you're correct in the view of increased habitat and good numbers of small fish. I saw this first hand in Deer Creek over the weekend. A lot of underwater cover, and it was all full of baby fish (mostly bass). The walleye were also looking for food in these areas though.

This also meant more opportunities for entanglement, so be vigilant about your surroundings and be able to detach quickly from any float lines or dive reels. Another thing to keep note of is large loose rocks. While settling in on a ledge on a drop I knocked a rock loose that probably weighed 80 or 90 lbs. As I watched it fall away below me, I started to think of the danger that represented had I been below that rock.

Here's hoping the next year or two see some good numbers of surviving fish.
