Be on alert!!!!! M/V My Joan a 60-70 ft Trawler boat ran me over while I was Kayak spearfishing at mooring buouys on Pompano Beach. My kayak was anchored with a huge dive flag 5ft off the water. I swam out of the vessels path. My friends yelled at the captain from their yaks. He swerved when he ran over my kayak. The props cut my anchor line,capsized my yak, sprawled my gear all over the ocean. The captain gunned the throttle a ran instead of checking for fatalities. Thanks to Wes and his daughter for stopping their day to help. Also thaks to BSO officers,Sea Tow, and Boat US for coming to my rescue. If anyone is familiar with or sees this vessel please contact me with the FL numbers or call BSO to report them. I write a column for Miami sports magazine under the title ONE BREATH and will include the name and story in the upcoming article. Hopefully it will draw a response from someone.
