Nice arguing for your cause with the surf vs freediving suits there.
I was wondering about one thing: I need a suit, that can be used for primarily windsurfing but also for occasional (scuba)diving and surfing in cold waters (Temps 70 F - 40 F) in Finland.
Nobody seems to able to tell me, if 7 mm dive wetsuits are too restrictive or too fragile for being used while on a board and on the other hand if the 5-6 mm "winter" surf suits are too cold for diving, even if combined with a 5 mm shortie/vest .
Since you have exp with surfing and diving, what is your recommendation?
Great Story. It doesn't look like you will ever be in need of a dive partner in California, but if you ever get this way again I would be greatful to return the favor.
I dove Santa Cruz island this weekend to 52-60 degree dirty water.
If I'm available I'd be happy to take you out when you come to northern California. Give me a call and I'll either let you know if I can make it or I'll hook you up with someone. There's another board that's more into North Coast diving called norcalunderwaterhunters. My number is (707)333-9575
Hey Paul Congratulations! You're gonna love being a father! Wow! 3 at once? That's a hand full! Hey I have 2 Combi infant carriers, a baby swing, and a portable playpen if you need it? PM me. Good Luck!
Paul,
I am heading to Oahu 4-17 thru 4-19 looking to charter a boat for open water. Any hints on a boat? Or good captains on Oahu. Bill Corn Murrieta, CA
Hey Paul, deff sounds good! Luckily being in the army i have every weekend off haha so im pretty much always in the water then. Sometimes I get a late afternoon dive on weekdays I stick to north shore on those days though.
Hey there paul hows it going? Currently in Iraq il be back on oahu at the end of summer sometime maybe see ya around. I believe diamondhead opens up next yr so im coming back just in time. Other then that im normally up on north shore by the dillingham airfield. The two guys i normall dive with are usually very busy so im just trying to make contacts with possible future dive buddies. Im all set with solo. Whats good with you? Almost done teaching for the yr huh?
I've pretty much outlined the supplements that I take in the thread you ran into. As far as diet goes, I just eat clean and healthy. Fresh veggies, good meat, 5-7 times a day, small portions. Your typical healthy diet. Avoid fruits (due to sugar) and avoid dairy (due to congestion/mucus build-up).
Exercise - I do some pool training as well - What I do in the pool varies. If you want to learn more, head over to the HSD forums and look up the monster thread with 100+ posts in it about palolo pool training. That's how I got started. Today was just 25 yard underwaters with push-ups/sit ups upon reaching the end of the pool, then jumping back into the water and breathing up for 30 sec max. Mix it up so the body is always adapting for the better.
