White Seabass or Corvina
Anybody know what the difference is between a white seabass and a corvina? Are the corvina they catch in south and central america the same as California white seabass?

Re: White Seabass or Corvina
As you know, we have White Sea Bass (Atractoscion nobilis) in CA. We have a surf fish called Corbina (Menticirrhus undulatus). Both are in the Croaker family. We also have Shortfin Corvina (Cynoscion parvipinnis) and Orange Mouth Corvina (Cynoscion xanthulus) in California-also Croakers These are similar in body shape and general look to WSB but smaller. So, in California just use WSB to be specific.
Corvina Cabaicucho or sometimes Corvina Blanca is what they call WSB in Baja. Corvina however, can refer to a huge variety of Drums and Croakers in Latin America. When in doubt in Latin America, use pictures and scientific names. Hope this helps. |

Thank you. It seems that there are several species out there. They all look like trout to me. Haha!!:beer:
