Nine Mile Bank, Kelp Check, San Diego
I was down in SD this weekend and decided to take a day to go out offshore and see what blue water looks like. Drove out to the US side of the 9-mile bank. You forget what visibility is when you dive in green/brown muck all the time.
Very blue, quite warm (64-65degree), lots of life (schools of krill, squid, baby jack mackerel, yoy rockfish), just no game fish around. Had fun diving out there, but if you want fish, it may need a little bit more time. Here is a video with no fish in it, just to prove I am telling the truth. Re: Nine Mile Bank, Kelp Check, San Diego
Awesome video, I was h&l fishing at roughly the same location a few weeks ago. The water looked awesome! We didnt get any fish, but we did have a huge sunfish cruise past the boat, and a pod of dolphins swam right under the boat.
I didnt have my gear with me, and I dont know how comfortable I'd be hoping in by myself for the first time, but swimming in deep blue water looks like a really cool experience. :toast: |

That footage of squid eating krill was awesome.

Beautiful. Thanks. That was really neat when you swam through the krill ball.

Awesome! That Krill was neat! You could almost see them better in some of the black and white exposure. Thanks!
