What gun for shooting mullet?
I heard this was fun, but my guns are too big for the murky river. I want something cheap. I was looking at the sporasub aspic guns. What size should I be looking at?
thanks |

Small fish in murky water....I would use a pole spear.

Re: What gun for shooting mullet?
I shot some under the old phosphate docks at Boca Grand Pass several years ago. I was using a sea hornet I think a pole spear would be better, but a cast net works even better! They are actually really good eating, when fresh.

Anything would, make sure you get them on the first shot as they will run on you, but keep your distance mullet heads defend thier own.

Re: What gun for shooting mullet?
Seriously, i would get a euro gun that shot a very thin shaft. I have shot them with a JBL, polespear, tried to shoot my deathstick but its just too big for snap shots like that, and my buddy's Omer, and the Omer was by far the best for mullet. It only has one band, but because the shaft is so light its shoots fast as hell and is eay to reload. I think his is the Excalibur 2000? It's perfect for mullet.
