We started at Tanner Bank. Then we shot over to the 9 fathom, then ended the first day at Cortez.
The next day we woke up to Clemente and hit some great spots on the island. We were able to finish...

Re: Pangueros between Loreto & Mulege (Baja)?

There is a huge no spearfishing park outside of Loreto. Dont get caught spearing there. Fishermen there are rewarded with 1/2 of the fines for a tip. I beleive its Cornado, Monserrate, Danzante,...

Re: The Great Giant Sea Bass Count 2015

The marine biologists lost a very useful ally for a very long time when the MLPA passed. Gone is the era when scientists can naively believe they are just taking says in the name of science. Your...

Re: anyone have a pv report?

Re: Ford stations wagon with license plate 7DBF564?

The blow up his spot. Anytime someone vandalized your car or tells you not to dive somewhere blow up the spot. That, and I always leave my dashboard cam on when I park in PV during the spring.

Re: Fin Kicks

Practice will build up your ankles. I try and take fins into the pool with me as much as I can. I used to take my bodyboarding fins into the jaccuzi with me after my runs, so while I was sitting...

Re: Should we leave the "Trophies" alone?

Thank you for that graph of carapace length vs egg number. That is exactly what I had seen in the old literature on Maine Lobster.

Think about that, its really profound. A 1 lb lobster has a...

Re: Should we leave the "Trophies" alone?

I'm not going to argue with you as it's hard to see your point. I was just addressing a misconception I hear all the time.
That misconception is that if the MLPA network works, why would we...

Re: Should we leave the "Trophies" alone?

If the closures for the MLPA was all that the fisheries need to stay healthy the we can get rid of all rules and just let the closures take care of management is faulty logic.

The closure of the...

Re: Should we leave the "Trophies" alone?

I regurgitated that tidbit from a display they had at Scripps Institute in San Diego. It was a massive lobster and the placard that talked about how many babies it had had in its lifetime. It...

Re: Should we leave the "Trophies" alone?

In lobster for example, egg production is proportional to carapace length. But mass increases somewhere between with the length times the square of the radius and the length cubed. Therefore,...

Re: Water Visibility

The only trends I have found are with:

Rains = more nutrients washing down = worse vis

Big swell = worse vis- worse closer to shore.

High tide, in deep kelp = better vis - tide brings clean...

Re: I'm in Avalon and desperate for a dive buddy

You have to be past the last mooring to be legal to dive. The harbor patrol busted me a few years ago spearing there. The rule (at least according to the harbor patrol) is that you are not allowed...
