Re: Daily Vis report thread

Awesome weekend diving with orbayburak. It's always great to get back to South Jersey for some spearfishing. Found plenty of mahi just a few miles off the beach. I shot the big one and it pulled off,...

Re: Panga Below Deck Fuel Tank

That's awesome. I think ill have to add that to the project list. While out this weekend, I experimented with shifting some weight forward to change the ride characteristics. It definitely helped. I...

Re: Big Fish Cooler Modifications

The current setup worked pretty well for an offshore trip recently. I'll probably run with it for a while. Only issue I had was that the melted ice was sloshing and coming through around the lid....

Re: Post Storm Visibility NC

Ran offshore from Oregon inlet. Water didn't get clear until about 15 miles out. Cleared up to 20ft viz at 25 miles and 40ft viz at 40 miles.

Re: Big Fish Cooler Modifications

Not sure if I like how it's attached to the lid, but I can deal change that later. The S hooks are not stainless so I will need to replace them. Just looking for proof of concept really.

Re: Panga Below Deck Fuel Tank

Alright, seems like the trim tabs are the way to go. I may move the fuel tank just to add capacity and free up room, but sounds like the tabs are the way to go to help the ride. Did you notice any...

Re: Panga Below Deck Fuel Tank

I know that's a possible solution. I just don't like drilling holes in my hull if it can be avoided.

Re: Big Fish Cooler Modifications

That's a good idea. I'm going to experiment with something similar, but with rubber straps today. Ideally, i'd like it to snap in place with spring clips and not require any adjustment.

Re: Post Storm Visibility NC

Post Storm Visibility NC

Looking for some visibility reports down the Carolina coast following Florence. Visibility off Virginia Beach out to the light tower was pretty poor a week ago. I'm considering making a trip to the...

Panga Below Deck Fuel Tank

I know there are some panga guys out there. Looking for some help installing a below deck fuel tank on my Imemsa Panga 22. Looking for about 25 gallons. I found a Moeller tank on amazon for $225...

Re: Big Fish Cooler Modifications

My challenge right now is to find a way to secure the cooler to the vertical bulkhead of the casting deck (see picture). I want to keep all hardware off the deck of the boat and make the cooler easy...

Re: Big Fish Cooler Modifications

Here are the modifications. Took about 1.5 hrs to get everything set in place. Hopefully my connections are strong enough to hold up to some abuse. All hardware is stainless steels so it wont corrode.

Re: Big Fish Cooler Modifications

Here is the stock cooler. I was really impressed by how rugged this cooler seemed. It has nice thick walls and the lid does not deform when you sit or stand on it. The lid fits snug in place and...

Big Fish Cooler Modifications

I run a 22ft panga offshore and regularly bring in fish over 50". Since I have no fish hold, I use a 150qt cooler. I had a cheap Coleman for a while but it didn't hold ice well and it was always...

Re: Dive Saturday Chesapeake

Come tomorrow and see for yourself! Generally offshore viz is very good, but it can get murked up in the bay. Sometimes the tide brings in enough clean water to have 10-15ft viz which is good for us....

Re: Daily Vis report thread

I'm in the same boat with those triggers. 3.5lbs really isn't that big. I've had a few borderline, but I usually get out on the weekends so I would have to wait until a weekday to get to the NJ Fish...

Re: NJ Spearfishing setup

For dive gear, i cannot recommend MAKO Spearguns enough. They operate locally out of Virginia and they have really good prices on good gear. Definitely consider them for fins and a gun. I switch...

Odd Inshore Catch

I'm back in NJ for the week. Orbayburak and I got out on the panga north of cape may and hit some offshore buoys and lumps within 15 miles. Hit the bridges in the morning and got one real big...
