Re: Band width for carbon gun

So I got a digital caliper to measure my bands and turns out they are 13.5 mm instead of 14 as I thought, so I will replace them with 14.5 and see how that feels. So with distance of 130 cm I get...

With a 3.5 inch wishbone I believe it comes out 375% or thereabouts, or am I getting this wrong?

Re: Band width for carbon gun

Thanks for the advice and yeah that's me with a 50# White Seabass that I ironically took down with a 90cm cheap Mako speargun coming up from underneath, go figure. I don't do much reef hunting,...

Re: Band width for carbon gun

My Mori slip-tip is 160mm (tip to tail) * 7.5mm.
Band slot to notch is about 130mm on average.
Bands are 24' plus 3.5' wishbone.
(Never figured out why we measure the shaft in metric and the bands...

Band width for carbon gun

So I have a Bleutec Blackeyes carbon gun that I love. Question is I currently have 3 14mm small Id bands and thinking about switching to 16mm for more power, anyone have experience with that setup?

Slip tip slide ring glued to shaft?

This might be a dumb question, but any reason why we can't use some epoxy to secure the slide ring to the shaft? Does it really need to be slideable?

Re: WTF is wrong with gun manufacturers???

Many good points here, guess it also depends on your target species, for me that's WSB and YT. Maybe I have just been unlucky with the original setups or maybe I am just asking too much. The more I...

Re: WTF is wrong with gun manufacturers???

Fair point and I agree to a certain extent. The problem I have is when it's basically just expected and almost required to modify something to get the set up right, which has been my experience with...

WTF is wrong with gun manufacturers???

I don't mind doing some tinkering, but why in the hell do we need someone like majdq (thanks btw learned tons from your videos) to show us how to set up a gun correctly. I mean we spend $1k on a new...

Looking for a 2 - 3 band gun in the 110 - 140 size range primarily for hunting California wsb and yt. Thinking about Sea Sniper, Wong, Andre, Ulusub...others? Accuracy is on the top of my priority...

Re: Wasted length

It's a 144 Euro model with enclosed track. I use a slip tip, spear is 156 tail to tip and 7mm. Bands are 16mm 24, 25, 26 length I believe. Mid shark fin to slot is about 110cm. My style is stealthy...

Re: Wasted length

It's rigged with 3 bands, but I've heard 2 might actually work better with higher accuracy, thoughts ?

Bands are so cheap that I just figured I might as well give that a try and see if I can get it dialed in properly.

Re: New WSB gun advice

Thanks, decided to try some different band configurations first and give it a chance, could very well be a great gun with the wrong setup.
