Lost a GoPro Hero 3 with plastic articululating clamp at Monastery beach (Carmel Bay) New Years Eve (12/31/2017). Had it attached to my DSLR rig, apparently not securely clamped.

I prefer gun mounts. Can twist them to the side to film your buddies and get a lot more stability than with mask footage. It's also easy to tell when you're recording.

I haven't tried many different suits, but my girlfriend has a 7mm Mako suit and she *overheats* in the frigid upwelling of Monterey, California. :)

It's so good she's gonna get a 5mm next time!

You can still access a lot of Big Sur if you just head in through King City, come down from the North or up from SLO. As a bonus, the campgrounds are largely empty right now.

I was just there yesterday, they have some beautiful wood, but it needs to be laminated and will end up being over $700 for just the wood of a gun. Figured I'd check around before committing to that.

Coming from NorCal it was better than vis in places like Sonoma. Maybe 15'. We were very happy, but the waves made getting in/out quite an experience!
