WTB ~90cm pneumatic

Anyone have a 75-90cm pneumatic they want to sell me? I just relocated to Norcal and my polespear keeps getting stuck in the kelp. A nice small pneumatic would be the sweet spot.

Phuket

Is anyone in Phuket or know of someone in Phuket for spearfishing? I'm here for the weekend on Monday and looking to dive!

Re: Baja in December / January

Thanks. Will probably do a chartered trip on the Pacific as you suggested later on but first I am doing a first trip with a friend on a budget who's trying spearfishing for the first time so is there...

Baja in December / January

Hi,
What's the best town/charter to go with for reef and bluewater in Baja California Mexico in late December and January? I'm getting some conflicting information about La Ventana. Some say it's...

Re: Compact Gun Design

Thanks for the offer Gecko. It might be next year before I start building this as things have gotten a bit busy at work. I would still love to see your Mirage 2.0 design if you want to share it.

Re: Compact Gun Design

Yes, I agree with testing the gun to a higher pressure than seen in operation for safety purposes.

If you are suggesting that there can't be a novel design after a few decades of experiments by...

Re: reverse mechs... tell me why again?

Have you tried Bigbluesaw.com? It's about $150 to have them waterjet you your own designs and you can try all the different designs you'd want on a single sheet.

Re: Compact Gun Design

On this current design, I have the pressurized components safely rated for 3000psi (200 bars). At that pressure, the loading force on the pump (without friction) is 140 lbs. I've made the dimensions...

Re: Compact Gun Design

Yes, I foresee that as a major challenge for this design. I do think the recoil for a pneumatic/hydropnuematic gun with a high compression ratio is much lower than for a rubber gun with the same...

Re: Compact Gun Design

Thanks. A lot of the inspiration for this gun actually came from the threads regarding the Mirage that you and Pete were participating in.

You are right about the loading method of the design....

Re: Compact Gun Design

Yes, I've seen that one and I tried to read up on all the different gun designs coming from Europe. I haven't seen any designs that would allow powered-down shots without significantly losing...

Compact Gun Design

Now for something completely different :D

I've been working on a hydropneumatic gun design with the following characteristics and thought I would share the general idea and invite feedback from...

Re: reverse mechs... tell me why again?

Has anyone tried DLC (diamond like carbon) coating the trigger sears? Galling happens more likely when the two friction materials are the same material or similar hardness. DLC raises the hardness of...

Re: More about the inverted polispast rollers

Jon,
I am not Geoff - just a newcomer to the sport who's really interested in guns :D. I spent 2 months in Bali earlier this year and I've been to Andre's shop a few times.

I can offer some...

Re: More about the inverted polispast rollers

Hi,
I saw your gun in person at Andre's shop in Bali last year and was really impressed by the workmanship! I have a question: what stretch percentage do you put on the bottom 18mm rubbers? The...

Re: More about the inverted polispast rollers

Everybody (famous gun builders included) can be criticized. Maybe spearfishing gun makers take it more personally than they should because the companies are usually one-man operations and have the...

I guess this thread is receiving a lot of views and that's overloading the image hosting site. Majd, try using imgur.com to host your photos.

Re: More about the inverted polispast rollers

Too much drama on here I think. :) People make mistakes so let's move past it and focus on the guns and testing.

I've never seen seals guns in person so I can't comment on the craftsmanship but...

Re: The Evil Twins

Might be OK because it's an enclosed track and there is only one engaged shark fin so we don't need to worry about lifting the wishbone to clear shark fins that are still left behind.

Re: More about the inverted polispast rollers

For penetration comparison to Majd's tests, he is using 15cm 38kg/m3 XPS while you are using 15cm 42kg/m3. Let's do a penetration comparison of the two best classic guns Majd's tested, the Oceanborn...

Re: Roisub 115 Demo3

Unless you're actually permanently bending the shaft, the difference in flexibility of different types of steel is the same. The modulus of elasticity is about the same +/-10% for a hardened...
