Re: looking for a speargun for my buddy

Check out Mako Spearguns. You can get a brand new Predator Pro 2g in that size range in the ballpark of $200 (w/o reel though). Great guns, I love my 110.

Re: Santa Barbara Conditions Report "Perma-Thread"

Got in for a shore dive in town at sunrise. Surgy, 5ft vis. Tons of nice sized grassies at this spot. Saw a bunch of small bugs, a couple legals. Had some near misses, but still a 0 on the card. Fun...

Re: Santa Barbara Conditions Report "Perma-Thread"

Jumped in this morning on the high tide. Really strong current everywhere, kelp was laid down completely. Decided to hit the shallow zone to look for butts. Really good vis most spots on the inside....

First dodo

Went down to San Diego over the weekend and hopped on a buddy's boat with 3 other guys. We went about 12 miles off La Jolla for some trolling. Came up on crashing birds around 8:30 am that had tuna...

Re: Anyone have any luck offshore?

Jumped in with a school of about 100 of em on a paddy. Mostly little chickens but a few decent bulls in there. My first time jumping in offshore, borrowing a friends gun and I missed a couple. A guy...

Awesome thread idea.

Not super out of the ordinary, but had a whole octopus, a crab claw, and a rock in one cab stomach.

Small boat storage in SB

I'm looking into getting a small boat, probably little 12ft aluminum or inflatable. I don't have a good driveway to store it in, and as I understand you're not allowed to park them on the street. Any...

Re: Santa Barbara Conditions Report "Perma-Thread"

Found similar conditions. Some patches of nice 15-20, but mostly hazy 10, with a lot of dead kelp on the bottom. Got one calico, and saw a 30+ lb wsb, but no chance at a shot.

Re: Santa Barbara Conditions Report "Perma-Thread"

Got in the water early afternoon in town. Surprisingly nice 15-20+. Big surprise of the day was a school of 5-6 wsb in about 20 ft of water. Mostly small guys, but one borderline.

Re: Santa Barbara Conditions Report "Perma-Thread"

Phytoplankton bloom. Lots of diatoms & coccolithophores. Not sure what's causing it yet. Some of the labs next to mine are working on culturing samples they have been collecting.

Re: Santa Barbara Conditions Report "Perma-Thread"

Re: Santa Barbara Conditions Report "Perma-Thread"

Got a dive in off my kayak just before sunset today. Hazy 10-20, but very huntable. Decent amount of life around. Got 2 sheeps and a calico.

Re: Santa Barbara Conditions Report "Perma-Thread"

Water is the clearest I've seen it in a few weeks in Goleta. A few areas look brown inside, but it seems like they clear up on the outside.

Solid mixed bag there HEX!

On a separate note: water looked like it was starting to clear up a bit in Goleta yesterday.
