Re: Video: 9/17/18 | Ledges and The RJ Thompson

I've only used the DCC once so far and used the Blue. The video came out crazy blue. After that I haven't used either. You're getting better light in your videos than I am though so maybe I'll try...

Re: Video: 9/17/18 | Ledges and The RJ Thompson

Good job. Are you using the DCC Green setting on your Paralenz?

Re: 9-19-18 slick calm day

Nice report. I can't tell you how many times we're way offshore and end up with another boat near or even on the spot we were planning. Beautiful weather day for sure - wish I didn't have to be at...

Re: Lobster Vacation Florida Keys

We trailered to Marco Island and the boated down from there. The boat's beam is over 10 feet so trailering down to the Keys is a real challenge legally.

Re: Current Vis - Tampa Bay Region (Homosassa to Sarasota)

We planned to head north and went out at Anclote with an idea to run NW 25 miles or so but ran into those seas and they were head seas as well. Up by Anclote, I thought the water looked a little...

Re: Lobster Vacation Florida Keys

Thanks. Yeah it was the most lobster we've ever caught. I'm sure Irma had something to do with it.

Lobster Vacation Florida Keys

Long video of our family vacation catching lobster in the Keys on our Prowler. 11 hours of footage with 2 GoPro4 and a Paralenz edited down to 16 minutes. I think it turned out pretty good.

Re: Grouper hunting

Generally red grouper are stupid and will just sit there and/or follow you around. Gags on the other hand are pretty skittish with scuba, especially as they get bigger. Often you have to chase them...

Re: Lobster Gloves

Nice tip Kmoose. And I have bought the headhunter ones too and have been using those for spearfishing this year. I like them a lot as well but don't want them destroyed by lobstering. Thanks guys

Lobster Gloves

I've been using the Akona ArmorTex Gloves for years for lobster and spearfishing. They're tough gloves and you can pretty much grab lobster without getting cut up. But, the stitching does not hold...

Re: Abacos Trip

We were in Elbow and some locals we talked to felt like Elbow was more overfished than other areas. Green Turtle supposed was better and Spanish was better yet. But I would find a guide and hire...

Re: Abacos Trip

We took our boat over for the first time last year. In hindsight, we should have paid a guide early in the week to show us where to go for diving and for trolling for pelagics. One of the best...

Re: Octopus legal?

We see them on the west coast in the winter; even catch them on a hook occasionally from the boat. Apparently they like to eat stone crabs.

Re: Goliath steals my Hogfish

Man that would make me want to start powerheading some goliaths for sure. I haven't had that issue on the west coast.

Re: So, question on spearing undersized or out-of-season fish

Actually venting tool requirement went away (you can still do it though of course)

Re: So, question on spearing undersized or out-of-season fish

A little off topic, but don't think they won't show up off shore. We were out hook and line only for the open of red snapper on Monday 60 miles offshore. We see this tiny little two man boat...

Re: MG weather Forcast

I've found that a combination of windfinder, NOAA and looking at those buoys that are actually operational in the days leading up to a trip is a pretty good combo.
