Re: Current Vis - Tampa Bay Region (Homosassa to Sarasota)

Hit the Rube Allyn and got a lot of target practice on mangos. Viz was 25-30’ early afternoon and dropped to about 20’ by 4pm. It was great to be on the water after all of this rain.

Re: Moving to Gainesville area

Diverboy067, you articulated it much better than I... All I was trying to say is it is a long tow to either coast, with a long run to dive on the Gulf. For a year or two, buying a used boat that will...

Re: Moving to Gainesville area

I've lived in FL my entire life and owned boats for 25+ years. For what it's worth, if you have to buy a boat and a reliable truck to tow it, by the time you pay for everything - boat/motor/trailer...

Re: Current Vis - Tampa Bay Region (Homosassa to Sarasota)

After spending the last 23 years diving out of John’s Pass, I’ve put the boat in a high and dry in Largo. Went out of Clearwater pass today to find some new numbers in the area. Could just make out...

Re: Current Vis - Tampa Bay Region (Homosassa to Sarasota)

Went out of Fort DeSoto on 12/18. Water was calm and chilly at 62 degrees and my buddy and I had colds so we just dove Egmont Reef. Viz was literally about 4’. Likely my last day of spearing for a...

Re: Current Vis - Tampa Bay Region (Homosassa to Sarasota)

I was out Thursday near the Egmont channel in 55-60’’. Vis was decent - hazy top to bottom for first hour, and reduced down to about 30’ later on.

We hit a few ledges that looked like a big group...

Re: New to area 10/05/15 trip

Agree it will be snotty. Bring numbers for South Couny reef. It isn't far from St. Pete and typically the viz is better since it is a few miles farther from the beach.
