Re: Low Viz guns

I've never been a fan of pole spears, and just prefer a gun. My go to gun in NorCal is a Rob Allen 70, but when the vis really sucks or I'm focusing on holes, I like my Riffe C-0.
My buddy loves...

Re: How much do you worry about cig?

Glad I read this. Took the family to Maui a couple years ago and I did some freedive spearing. All I shot was a Roi and a Menpachi. I had hired a guide that said the Roi could be "hot", but that...

Re: 15' scupperpro double hatch kayak

I have the Scupper with the open rear portion. I've realized that since that open back part has drain, (scupper) holes, my yak actually has less volume and therefore less boyancy than the two hatch...

Hey thanks. That's good info! Looking at a new camera for Christmas, so hopefully by then the 4 will be out and the 3+black will be on sale.

Re: NASA commits to $7 billion mega rocket, 2018 debut

You guys all fuss about the money, but I bet that if they handed you the remote and let you push the button to launch it, you might re-consider...:D

OK sorry, that was just a random thought...

Re: Stills?

Actually,
I was only using the a570 for underwater. My on land point and shoot is an elph 100hs. Thought about buying a housing for that, but last time I looked I couldn't find one, and the outfit...

Re: Stills?

Hey Kyle, that's not a bad idea. I normally don't buy the protection plans, but it saved my tail on my digital SLR. If I go with the Intova I could buy it from Best Buy and the protection plan...

Re: Stills?

Hmm,
The Canon I'm using is an A570is. I bought it for around $170, then the following week, when the newer model came out, my camera was on sale for around $129. Shortly after that, you could...

Re: Stills?

You're probably one of those guys who can actually navigate your way around a computer, and probably have a "smart phone" too.:D
As for me, I gotta read directions, and when it comes to computers,...

Hey thanks Phil. I remember now that I asked about the camera on the board and you had mentioned that you had it. I recall at the time I didn't buy one because I'd read some negative reviews...

Re: Most used speargun length

Another NorCal hunter here. I use a 70cm RA most of the time, and if I could only have one gun, it would be that one.

Re: When it hot, it's hot.

Yeah I've always found the opposite to be true in my area regarding TC's and vis. One reservoir in particular you can actually see the TC. It's like diving into a brownish fog that gets darker and...

Re: Primary light recommendation?

Benny I should add though that I have never tried some of the little lights that run on the 2 CR123 high output batteries like the Intova and some of the others. They would probably be smaller and...

Re: Primary light recommendation?

Not sure how compact you want, but my favorite light is the Princeton Tec Torrent LED. Runs on 8 AA's. Lots of light output and the batteries last me a long time.

Re: Hunting Halibut in Dangerous Waters, NorCal Dive Report

When I finally started freedive spearfishing I looked at the various protective gadgets for sharks. (All my shark knowledge came from "Jaws", and I'm a chicken...) I looked at the Shark shield and...

Re: Hunting Halibut in Dangerous Waters, NorCal Dive Report

I did my first NorCal freedive the Friday before Randy was hit. I was just south of Fort Bragg with friends. I was scared to death of sharks, but they convinced me that there hadn't been a shark...
