Re: Hobie kayak transducer location

a large amount of noise may indicate you had bubbles in the glue, but I would still place it under the seat

Re: Finder battery issues.

I have a 7AH battery that I used for a while. I would say it is better than the motorcycle battery but too heavy for my tastes. It will last forever, but how long do you really need it to last? My...

Re: Finder battery issues.

I would buy some good batteries and try it in deeper water. In only two feet of water it may have issues.

Re: Low tech/low coast fish cooling

I use salted ice. 10% salt by weight in old gatorade containers freezes around 0F. A couple of these in a cheap soft side cooler will give you nearly equivalent results to Nu-ice.

Re: Finder battery issues.

Just to specifically answer your questions:
Nimh will initially read a higher voltage then drop down to around 1.2 volts under load until nearly dischargered.
Alkalines don't do well in high...

Re: Finder battery issues.

Don't use alkalines, they won't last long. Buy good 2000 mah Nimh batteries off of Amazon. I like Eneloop and La Crosse but even the black amazon branded batteries will work. Buy a good charger...

Re: Inline fuse?

It would only me necessary if you could reverse the polarity accidentally. I don't have a fuse on mine since it is unlikely that will occur.

Re: Hobie Pro Angler as dive platform?

I use a revo 13 and find it to be a bit too heavy and wide (slow) but it servers its purpose well enough to keep. I don't think I would like the slower speed of the pro angler since the revo is...

Re: Mounting brackets to kayak

I would skip those and add two bungies similar to paddle holders. Not sure what those are made out of but the paddle bungies are plenty secure and last a couple of years. Not to mention they come...

Re: Kayak vhf

Buy any small 4 Watt waterproof radio and keep it somewhere easy to get to, if you wear a life jacket while paddling keep it in a pocket. I wouldn't bother monitoring channels unless you need to...

Re: lift assist

I use a tailgate extender that fits into the trailer hitch. Holds my 14' kayak and I don't have to lift it higher than the bed. Just another option.

Re: Sleigh Ride on Kayak

I've also had some nice tarpon sleigh rides that lasted a lot longer, but the kingfish were my favorite since I won.

As for sharks, just blacktips, no great stories there and I'm ok with that. ...

Re: Sleigh Ride on Kayak

Fishing the ICW out of Jungle Trail looking for snook I was using large live grunts for bait. Got pulled around for an hour before I could get a look at the culprit. Turned out to be a very large...

Re: OK Trident Ultra 4.3 vs Hobie outback

Cheap soft side cooler bag from the grocery store with a couple of frozen water bottles. I may join you down there sometime, good luck with the new boat.

Re: OK Trident Ultra 4.3 vs Hobie outback

I prefer the speed and weight of the longer revo. I consider it to be excessively wide and stable for a fishing/diving kayak. The outback is even wider and slower with no real benefit. Also the...

Re: OK Trident Ultra 4.3 vs Hobie outback

Hau,

It is certainly more gear to deal with but I enjoy using it more like a boat than a kayak. I have the large beach wheel cart to get it to the water and back. Everything is prepped at the...
