I agree with the clarification that it is the change in depth.

People do pass out from 5 foot depths though, particularly in the pool practicing without a spotter.

That has always been my guess as to why.

I don't mind the July break, as i've had some of my best spearing experiences then. I never end up on the bottom staring at a ling while holding my iron!
