Re: Gladiator Spartacus 120 Invert roller

I was looking again at the pictures and I cannot tell if the CF looking areas is actually CF or just water transfered. I can't seem to find any seams or transitions between the "suposedly" CF skinned...

Re: Gun Build: in progress

I like solid colors for two reasons. The practical one is that bright yellow, orange or white are easy to spot in a dark bottom if I happen to drop it or get a tangle in the reel and cannot surface...

Re: Carbon stringers

I suggest you get in contact with a whale-hunting supplier and see if they have any new-old stock harpoon cannons on sale... :thumps::thumps:

Best of luck and keep us posted!

Re: Carbon stringers

I just cut long strips out of bidirectional cloth. Since my main use is carbon skinning, it doesn't hurt much to cut lengthwise. You just need to make sure the main piece is at least as long as your...

What I do to add grip to an otherwise slick surface is to give two coats of pigmented epoxy....

Re: Gun Build: in progress

No, I have never cast any epoxy. I believe that mixture you are talking about would be UBER STRONG, but also extremely expensive.

Cast PU is cheap and strong enough.

Also, structurally wise,...

Re: Gun Build: in progress

My spearguns are quite slim, so I try to save weight everywhere. Shaft and mech add plenty of weight to the gun and I need to make them neutral or positively bouyant (to be compensated later on). So...

Re: Gun Build: in progress

I posted here the process of making a clay handle (as a pattern), then making the mold and finally casting the PU handles. So far I have cast arround a 8 handles or so in the same mold... and, go...

Re: Gun Build: in progress

If you want the absolute bubble-free epoxy pours or coats... there is no better way than de-gasifying the mixture (once throughly mixed, as with any epoxy) in a vacum.

With PU resin you need to do...

Re: Building A classic mini Roller

The problem with using that oring setup to prevent water ingress is the location of said oring.

For the muzzle not so much of a problem, but for the handle, considering it relies on the same...

Re: Cold Water Spearsuit

Well, I got to say that it looks great. As you say, not for everyone as I have never seen a wetsuit with pockets! Ok, maybe one flat pocket meant for the knife so it doesn't snag on kelp, lines or...

Re: Gun Build: in progress

I am all for the "tight is right" but sometimes giving yourself a bit of wiggle room saves a lot of headaches. Not much, just a little.

I don't think we need space rocket tolerances for our gun...

Re: Gun Build: in progress

Beautiful build! Does the epoxy pocket for the mech add any real benefit to the gun or it is mainly for looks? I understand the mech pocket is to be protected from water ingress but a decent coat...

Re: QUESTION: Tips and tricks for carbon/kevlar wrapping

I managed to tame it.

I masked the outline with duct tape (trimmed with an utility knife) to avoid it sticking where I didn't want tit to. I fixed the cloth to the stock with Super77, wetted it...

Re: Corrosion Article with respect to Underwater Equipment

Very instructive! I have witnessed this crevice corrosion in stainless shafts found at the bottom. The outside seems fine, but they crumble if you put any pressure on them (vise, pliers, etc). They...
