Re: NEW Spiny Lobster Commission Approved by Governor.

[QUOTE=fishmunger;2155196]Lots of misinformation here. Read the actual bill. No taxpayer dollars will be spent by commercial fishermen to market their catch. Much like the california sea urchin...

Re: Does anyone bike to spots?

When I was younger and stronger I lived down the road from where I am now and I had that idea of biking to spots. My first attempt was into Vandenberg AFB. I biked in at night and smoked the big...

Re: Transect Results 2016

Doesn't Fish and Game think that there is a correlation between the starfish wasting and the urchin population rise. Thus the vanishing shallow water kelp. The starfish is the "Keystone" species of...

Re: California Multi-Day Fishing Trip Permit Questions

The multi day should read that you have to stay the night at least 7 miles offshore and you cannot come ashore. Thus abalone are out. They just have not changed the old form. One limit of abalone. To...

Re: DFW workers

Is this in the regulations? The reason I ask is that I dive with my 2 kids and they always fish squid and baitfish at night when on the hook. They also spear rockfish. The warden never asks about the...

Re: A Message To New Divers

I am missing the point on not bringing home the dinner. What ocean are you diving in? I have to limit my 10 and 12 year old to the number of fish they kill each time we go out. My daughter caught a...

Re: Rare fish seen while diving

I can confirm that they were red, had big teeth and we ate some. One was part of a Cal Poly Senior project, so you can look it up. I was a fisheries biologist working in the outflow. I also caught a...

Re: Lobster Advisory Committee Meeting Outcome: 9/11/2013

It is difficult to stop the hoop net poachers and a 70 card won't do it. They just get 5 friends to get cards and get 350 more lobsters off the breakwall. A bit tougher to do with divers. The 70 card...

Re: Marlin?

It should be noted that these are for live bait fishing where Marlin will almost always swallow the bait. Circle hooks were later used in studies. Trolling results are different.

Re: So long lobster fishing

The problem with the 70 number is that it is such a low starting point. Abalone started at 100 and we are now going to 18. In large part because of historical die-offs, withering syndrome and the red...

Tie tuna chord directly to the back of the boat with some type of bungie attached. Anywhere from 60-80ft with a tuna feather will catch most any pelagic. Bring some wire leaders for wahoo country....

Re: Late Lobster post..

The California Spiny Lobster is Panuularis interruptus
which means that the bands on the back of the tail are "interupted" and not really connected. These are connected as you have pointed out.

Hi Matt. When they say 6600/Ha, do they mean adult abalone like 7 inches or do they mean abalone of any size. Thanks, abalone farmer
