Re: Does epoxy hold silicon? (for gun butt pad)

If youíre a gun builder youíll have epoxy around and perhaps you can cut a small sample of the silicone in question and make a test to verify for yourself...?
I spoke in general terms about and I...

Re: Does epoxy hold silicon? (for gun butt pad)

Short answer; no.
As a rule, only silicone will stick to silicone but itís hard to find a good silicone adhesive.
If the mat is actually PU or rubber and not silicone then yes, you can use an...

Who makes the best rubber

I checked in with my Chinese friend who runs a spear gear shop in south China and he said the same. He said that in his experience and what he hears from users is that the local rubber just drops off...

Re: Who makes the best rubber

Primeline does make a standard ID rubber and while I only have small ID rubber from them - I havenít yet seen that cold, grayish color for the core.
Thereís a lot of really bad rubber being made in...

Crack in Bleutec gun

Nice to hear a differing opinion bit I really can’t stress enough that a repair that might very well work in a solid material like wood may very well fail on a thin composites shell. They are...

Dyneema shooting line for roller?

If you are asking about the constrictor knot, you can normally cut those with a very sharp blade without hurting the rubber. But consider switching to inserts or at least make the knot you insert end...

Crack in Bleutec gun

Please donít bother with only epoxy. While epoxy is strong it's nothing compared to the fibers in a laminate. For epoxy to work on its own you need a fairly large glue bond (surface area) and nicely...

Crack in Bleutec gun

Thatís a good point - I didnít spot the silicone though Iím not sure if acetone will do much to it.
But itís important to notice that if thereís silicone around you have to be extremely careful...

Re: Crack in Bleutec gun

Yeah, I can see that approach working on a wood gun. But not on a composite gun. The surface area you have between the two edges of the crack is nothing compared to what it would be in a solid wood...

Re: Crack in Bleutec gun

If that crack is all the way through the laminate it is not a small problem at all and if Bleutec doesn't help you out the repair is fairly substantial.

Unless there's some kind of skeleton or...

Re: Who makes the best rubber

Probably not much. And they can still vary a bit even around their designated size. A 14mm is often 13.8-14.2ish.
Also, don’t forget to check Spearamerica. They carry Primeline too and will often...

Re: Who makes the best rubber

I think the one in the fridge will be just fine but it certainly wouldn't hurt to get a bit extra - especially if you are on your way to Asia.
Cressi also makes a Small ID now. But given that you...

The Infinite Engines Dreamair moves from dream to reality

Just a thought but the ďinverted loadingĒ could also me missing if Andreas wanted to save that feature for the other more expensive guns. So, a way of differentiating the guns more.
Letís say the...

Re: The Infinite Engines Dreamair moves from dream to reality

I was wondering the same thing. Could it be because the compression ratio is so much higher to the point where the CVT canít invert the loading force?

Dyneema shooting line for roller?

If you have tangles then try different ways of wrapping the line. I had tangles at the bungee when I first started using it. But the solution was simple, I wrapped the last of the two loops ďthe...

Dyneema shooting line for roller?

It will work. Itís what I had on my Pathos 100.
That said, with a shaft that light, I feel itís right on the limit in terms of how much performance drop over a thin mono I can accept. But for less...

Re: Dyneema shooting line for roller?

We are kinda in speculation territory now but that's alright, I like spending time there.
Overall, most of the strength comes from the core - especially on the thicker lines. But if the sock is...

Dyneema shooting line for roller?

The outer ďsockĒ is still incredibly tightly woven and coated - likely with a PU of some sort. But maybe you could massage and loosen it up enough to make a brummel work. But you would loose quite a...

Re: Dyneema shooting line for roller?

Stiff is good. Woven lines are said to have more risk of tangles than mono (I think so, too) but that risk is reduced the stiffer they are. It's no coincidence that the Aussie Dyneema is named...

Re: The Infinite Engines Dreamair moves from dream to reality

I asked about this and Andreas replied already:
"Yes Dreamair Unreal was loaded with the Dreamloader whith pulley at 19atm or 95Kgf on the piston. The piston has an area of 500mm2."

The Infinite Engines Dreamair moves from dream to reality

I have to give cudos to Andreas’ new(?) slogan ‘Made in Utopia’.
So, a ‘DreamAir Unreal made in Utopia’;-)

Seems Andreas has a very well developed sense of self-irony which is what we call it...

Re: Dyneema shooting line for roller?

So, your shaft is 100-110cm I reckon and as such, I'd say to go with the thinner 1.4mm line. Even on a 130cm shaft well powered up on a 2x14mm Pathos 100, I can def tell that 1.4mm slows the shaft...

Re: Briante Gold Plated Gun

Yes, you don't need the trigger finger and the thumb to be level (on the same plane/height). You can certainly have a grip where the trigger finger is much lower, in effect raising the back of your...
