Re: Hmmm.......Is underwater GPS feasible with this?

I guess it depends on what you are wanting GPS underwater for. If you want to navigate by GPS, that's not currently possible, but if you want to mark an underwater structure that you found while...

Re: Octopus legal?

While fossil hunting off Venice beach, FL, we have found baby octos in whelk shells. Most were about the size of a quarter and were returned to the water.

Re: Lionfish hunter in SW florida?

Too cool I guess. Shooting lionfish doesn't have the "chest thumping" appeal that some people need. Wonder what they are gonna do when there is nothing left to shoot but lionfish?

Re: New to the boards...looking for freedive/polespear partners around Venice

Hi Cryano,
I do dive but only scuba. It has been my experience that the logistics of freediver/scuba buddying isn't really compatible, but I did PM you with dive site directions and info.

Re: New to the boards...looking for freedive/polespear partners around Venice

Good luck in your efforts, this is a very cliquey group! I don't free dive, but having lived in the Sarasota area for several years, and speared from the beach/shore and kayak, I can recommend...

Re: Murk Gun

I agree with xrispearo, pneumatics are the way to go, more power for the length than anything else, quick to reload, cheap and easy to maintain. It's my go-to gun for hunting around bridges and other...

Re: Band dilemma

Thanks Waterstone!
I am spearing on scuba, and it's rare that we have 20' viz, 10 is more the norm on the nearshore reefs in the Venice area. I think a single, small ID 5/8" band will probably do...

Re: Band dilemma

I was hoping to draw on the collective wisdom of the group, rather than wasting a lot of time and missed fish on trial and error. I am otherwise inclined to try a single 5/8" band cut to 300% and...
