Re: California Sea Cucumber dive permit

Good Luck with the sale, wish I had the cash.

You use to have your boat next to mine in the channel island dry storage and they just increased rates. They now measure the trailer tongue to the...

Re: Advice on gear for Cortes Bank trip

Kind of interesting that you can harpoon a sword but can't spear it.

Thanks for the report, sounds like an amazing trip.

Re: California Multi-Day Fishing Trip Permit Questions

In Norcal, there are several boaters that will stay out and drift as someone already mentioned (as some do for albacore overnight trips) or you can try and tuck in somewhere behind the farrallon...

Re: California Multi-Day Fishing Trip Permit Questions

For abalone, you still have to abide by the possession limit which was mentioned earlier as only 3.

Re: managing seasickness on multi-day charter

The above are some great OTC remedies. Another alternative is scopolamine, although it is through prescription. It can cause dry mouth (one of the most common side effects). And you don't want to use...

Re: Mendocino 4/1

Great report and having your kids with you sounds awesome.

Heard most places weren't worth diving due to the ground swell you mentioned.

There's suppose to be a south swell to complicate things.

Re: Sources for Finding Good Boat Deals..

I like parkers but didn't like the bare bones cabin and lack of storage on the deck. No standard fish lockers or bait tank. On a 21 foot parker, I had a 175 hp 2 stroke but it always felt...

Re: 2 DFW Officers, Dishonest or Incompetent?

Well, at least for him he still hasn't been hired as a warden. But I think he was more upset at the union then citizens.

Regardless, it sucks to hear of your situation. Sounds like you have a...

Re: 2 DFW Officers, Dishonest or Incompetent?

I would have to say most people would like to promote up regardless of their career path. But DFW LEO are a different breed, most do like being a Peace officer but they also have to love Wildlife. ...

Re: Add your Input to new 2017 Lobster Regs..

There has been past research on lobster and shrimp, and for lobsters one of the difficulty was getting them to molt faster and cannibalism. Thus lobster aquaculture is not cost effective.

Other...

Re: Winter Halibut Hunting

Re: SCUBA cert question

If you are both at UCLA, I would recommend looking into the dive class at the university. They use to be all quarter long which means 9 weeks in the pool, and two weekends of ocean dives. I believe...

Re: DFG data collection at launch ramp

To each their own. But I do believe the surveys helped increase the lingcod limit to 3 and decrease the size back down to 22 when it was raised to 24 inches. Maybe the only positive example. Then...

Re: Should we leave the "Trophies" alone?

I do agree that larger individuals can provide more fecundity but there is also a point where they start to produce less gametes regardless of their size. The curve isn't just exponential.

Congrats on PB. For anywhere that is a monster, but especially for anacapa. Never have seen one over ten lbs at anacapa.

Did you manage limits too?

Re: DFW workers

Re: Scientist fear "dead zone" off Sonoma coast

Thanks for the link and for asking questions. One big question is what defines a dead zone, amount of life, dissolved oxygen (DO) levels, etc. also, is this event multifactorial? When low DO water...

Re: Fort Ross CA - Last Day of abalone season and my humbling experiences

There was a large die off of abalone due to red tide. DFW has a threshold level that has been set and if they determine that the population has crossed the threshold, they have procedures to reduce...
