Re: First Dive Boat!

Congrats and good luck on your search!

Just wanted to add on to what Castor was getting at....boat problems come about unexpectedly, even well maintained boats. My friend bought a brand new boat and it had a battery die before he got it in the water. While you cannot always predict them, you can be prepared when they inevitably arise. Remember boat stands for bust out another thousand so keep a savings account dedicated to yearly repairs and purchase a repair manual so that you can learn to do some of the preventative maintenance and repair work yourself and it also may come in handy when you get stranded on the water (keep a tow rope on board). While none of us set out to be boat mechanics you will learn how to fix a lot of problems and do a lot of repairs over the years of ownership out of necessity. I don't want to deter you from boat ownership, because they are great fun, but just want you to be prepared to handle issues that may come up with even the best maintained boat.
