Orcas off san pedro/pv

Some of my friends were on this trip, a small pod of orcas came by and chased the sealion around but were unsure if it got eaten. http://belmontshore.patch.com/articl..._video-7798138

cool video Chris! Heard about the orcas this morning. Had a few others that said they were harassing some blues out front.

Re: Orcas off san pedro/pv

I wish it were my video, I've only seen orcas once and it was mid channel on the way to cat . These orcas are transients and move around a lot, not like the salmon eating residents from up north. It doesn't surprise me that they'd be trying to take down blues, especially if the orcas are in big packs. From what I've heard they have never attacked divers in the wild, but man I'd shit myself if I came across any while diving in blue water.

one or two babies in that group...thought I had a pod coming at me in open water off SCI once...went by 10' under me...and, my heartbeat went back to somewhat normal after seeing it was a pod of pilot whales with a baby sandwiched between them in the middle...neat sight and ....welcome..

That is one way to keep the sea lion population in check.
