Got checked

Been fortunate to dive every week since the season opened 6/15.

I went freediving at Beaver Lake, Arkansas yesterday (7/14) and we enjoyed great visibility.

After driving our boat on the trailer, I rode it up the ramp with my camo wetsuit on. Before I could get out of the boat, a 4-wheel drive SUV pulled alongside and the game warden got out. He asked "were you spearfishing today?" I said yes. The next question came "did you spear anything?" I said yes. "Could I see them please?" I pulled two Walleye and a Striper out of the cooler.

I asked him if he would like to see my license and he said it wasn't necessary. He smiled and said the Striper wasn't as large as the last time he checked me.

There was another Striper and more Walleye in our cooler, but he didn't look there or ask if we had shot more fish. Nice guy!

Sorry for the delay. Just now saw you question.

The Stripers were running about 40 feet deep.

Re: Got checked

Why have they been picking on us this year? I think the first time, we got ratted on. This is why I stay legal. At least they aren't using helicopters and diving on us anymore.

your keeping me pumped Les, I plan on making it out there the first week of September.

Are they on cover at 40' or just open water?

Re: Got checked

Haven't checked this thread in a while. Sorry for not answering your questions.

UWL,

The Stripers don't seem to hang around cover like Black Bass, Crappie, & Walleye. They are constantly on the move. The larger ones cover great distances in Beaver Lake.

Fish,
We are always Freediving when hunting Stripers.
