He Robbed Me of my Riffe At Four Holes in Jupiter!

So I dropped into the neighborhood (Four Holes is located about two miles north of the Jupiter Inlet in approximately 60 feet of water) and swam through like I owned the place. The purpose of the drop was to fill our Jack categories for the SBO tournament. I watched my friend, Craig, STONE a 30+ lb Jack Crevalle and swam off to tackle my own - my biggest Jack ever.

I was using Bubbafishing's 48" midhandle Hawaiian Riffe. I've grown really fond of that gun as it's got more power and length than mine so I was confident! I didn't realize it, but I'd separated myself from my dive team and was alone when I sized up on a 30+ pound Jack and took the shot. It was great placement and the sliptip deployed perfectly! The fight was on and I was holding my own -- for a while anyway. He ran to the bottom and I let him circle me and just kept turning as he turned - still he continued down. I was shocked at the power this guy had with darting, jerking and pulling.... I managed to unhook my lift bag and clipped it to the gun in order to create even MORE drag and as I reached down to inflate it, the damn thing jerked and the gun slipped from my grip and was pulling fast away. I kicked after it, but I'd put so much air in my BC that I started to ascend and while dumping the air, swimming down, I just watched it fade away into the depths.

I WAS ROBBED!! So, I'm imploring all of you... PLEASE... if you find a 48" Riffe Hawaiian Midhandle (no name on the gun, but there is a letter "B" up near the muzzle) ..... PLEASE.... contact me at 321-508-3023.

Funniest part about this to me was that Friday night I was interviewed by the film crew for the new Spear Wars spearfishing show and the interviewer asked me how I feel about competing against men - if I have any disadvantages. My answer was strength. Men are, in most cases, stronger than women. Wrestling with this big fish and losing A FRIEND'S gear -- sheesh -- that just proves it.

I'm thinking about contacting Riffe and asking if I can work out a deal with them. I've been wanting to buy the exact same gun, but have held off due to the price (With the sliptip I want, it's $780!!) We had film crews on our boat all day during the tournament to film for Spear Wars and when I told my story back on the boat, I plugged Riffe BIG TIME and made a huge deal about how much I love Riffe, and that it was a great gun. It'd be awesome if they could help out in some way -- maybe give me a deal on TWO new guns....??

I'm sorry for your double in the whole prediciment. A few years ago I borrowed a gun from a buddy of mine and I used the crap out of it He gave it to me new and when it came time to return it it was in far from new condition So I bought him the same gun brand new and I kept the used gun. Now I live by one rule don't borrow any gear from anyone that I'm not prepared to replace. I'm not patronizing you I'm just sharing my story and new motto with you.

Lisa, as you know, Johnoly and I dive out there every weekend and don't mind looking for the gun. My problem is I don't recognize a spot named 4 holes unless you mean the tunnels. Give me an exact spot and will look next weekend. Keep in touch and dive in Jupiter on the Chuckitall sometime.

I am diving out there with Randy 2 or 3 times a week. Like Chuck, I don't recognize the name of the spot. Can you clarify.

Don't feel too bad. 2 weeks ago Randy and I were hunting on the deep ledge and his Riffe somehow got away from him and disappeared up current as we furiously tried to close the gap. His gun was found a couple of days later and he is using it now.

Awe, Lisa that is a bummer! Those Jacks will take you for a ride! That would be the biggest score ever to plug into Riffe! Sounds like you had a blast! Can't wait to hear all the smack talking after the weigh in! Someone mentioned putting all girl team to together? Would you be interested in next year???? I hope Riffe just gives you a gun for being so cute!
