friday report
Dove out of oceanside today and was suprised to find 40ft vis at our first spot!! Temp had lowered back down to a chilly 55 from 58 on Wed. Report for fish, well no seabass spotted today, but did get that seriously HUGE badoonk boom that follows where a seabass was nestling into the kelp and gets spooked. The entire kelp stalk got sucked down about 2 to 3 ft and bent! If you have seen this before then you know exactly what I'm talking about. Anyway, bait was thick and a large whale breached multiple times for us. All and all a very cold morning. Dive time was 9 to 1130am and that was enough for us today. During this time the current was completly slack and I presume this is why we didn't even spot any seabass on such a great vis day. Hope this report helps someone. Ben

Re: friday report
Was your first spot at Catalina? Without being real specific, which direction out of Oceanside did you go?

Re: friday report
Hey lobzila, sorry for the delayed response, but the spot I am talking about is LOCAL from Oceanside and that's why I was so suprised to find 40ft vis! Thats more of why I thought this post would maybe help some people.

Re: friday report
looking at the tide and moon phases, it appears you may have been a couple of hours late for the peak diving period... early am Tue and Wed is looking real good...dark moon phase will put the fish on the move to find food and a 5' tide will create some good current to get the bait concentrated under the kelp and wsb moving around to sneak up on the bait...
