Cchen, you look as busy as I try to be. I don't fish or hunt as much as I would like because my family is spread out and we drive a lot to visit.

They are pretty rad. I start a new gig on the 16th. Production longline (seismic) in an MD500. pretty pumped. I love the Little Bird. was getting pretty close to hanging my shingle someplace else. Canadian aviation isn't what it used to be.

you might like these, from the Pemberton fires, Summer 2009.

Samik - Great photos! Working in the smoke is always pretty dicey. Is that a Boeing 234?

The MD500 is a hot rod. The new e models are incredible. Sounds like you get to see some fantastic scenery, and working long line ought to make you a few bucks. Better than flying tourists.

Man, this forum took off! Keep the pics coming gents. If I ever get away from school I might be able to shoot a turkey - no luck as of yet, but here's to being optimistic.

cchen, i heard about that bull elk at wholesale sports. is it true that you shot it like 40 yards from your truck? and gentlemen, hiking, climbing, and hunting are also things i am quite addicted to. keep that in mind when you organize such activities! does anyone here take part in the activity known as "herping"? because i do that all summer long.

Wow...

First of all, I don't own a truck.
Secondly, I DON'T road hunt.

This elk was bugled in at least 5 miles away from any road or vehicle... Shot from 29 yards, double lunged and you could see where my broadleaf knicked the heart.

So no. I didn't shoot that elk 40 yards from a truck.

Unfortunately, I do too... It's a reoccurring reminder of why you're not supposed to kiss the call girls.

Re: "Off season" pursuits and bragging thread

cchen, ah, just a story then. wasnt trying to call you out on road hunting or anything. ive just heard from other parties that youre something of a good luck charm/ always get in to the game animals.

devildiver, she told me she was clean! but seriously, if you guys havent ever gone herping you should try (as long as you arent scared of snakes). its like birdwatching except for reptiles and amphibians. and cooler because you get to pick them up and check them out. i go all kinds of fun places in the gorge, further south in the valley, and in eastern central and southern oregon.

Re: "Off season" pursuits and bragging thread

Well, hunting season is here and I want to see what the rest of you are killing so here goes reviving the thread.

I drew rifle tags for both deer and elk this year, so I won't be bow hunting. My elk tag is a four month long cow tag that started on August 1st. Being a dutiful hunter, I spent five days out there hunting and scouting on the opener, but there wasn't a living thing to be found with temps reaching the 90's early in the day. I'll head back out when the weather breaks.

Here are some pics of the struggle - sometime this winter I'll post some dead elk pics.
