How come the fish in my GoPro footage look so small?
The title says it all. The fish look miniscule when I go back and watch the footage. I had a monster 25-30lb red snapper swim up on my yesterday, and when I viewed the footage it looked about 12lbs. Triggerfish I had speared that were pretty decent sized looked like babies on the end of my polespear. Is there a zoom setting, or is it because I use a head mount and the camera is farther away from the target then if I were to use a gun mount?
Thanks in advance. PS. Go ahead, get it out of your systems and tell me to shoot bigger fish

Do you have it set on R-5? Are you using a flat lens? As I understand it, R-5 with a flat lens makes the fish look closer/bigger than any other setting.
Oh - and shoot bigger fish!

If you have the Hero 2, the 1080 setting is the same as R-5 on the original Hero, and I believe what used to be the R-3 is the 960 setting on the H2.

What camera do you have? ... wide angle catches everything in the frame, but makes everything look farther away. It is, as far as I know, an unavoidable consequence of light refraction. |

Re: How come the fish in my GoPro footage look so small?
Sorry I haven't responded guys. I've got finals this week, last one tommorrow. I'm going diving Sunday and have the whole next week off. I'm going to handle all this video stuff after that.
Thanks for all your input. Really appreciate it.
