Kailua Kona in 20 days

I'm heading to the big island at the beginning of July, and I'll be staying in Kona.

Just curious if any of you have done any hunting out that way and how was your experience if so? I'll be there from the 1st of the month through the 10th.

Depending on where you are from you may find the hunting challanging the water is clear and the fish are edjucated from centuries of hunting pressure. It is a lot of fun but hard hunting depending on what you are hunting.

Remember many of the locals depend on the ocean for food. show them some respect and take only what you need to eat do, not clean fish near kids on the beach. most hawaiian residents respect spearfishing as long as you respect thier recource.

Look up info on cigutera as some fish have a lot on the kona coast.

I might see you in the water I will be there at the same time good luck!

Drop by Blue Water Hunter in Kona. They will be able to tell you where to go and can sell you anything you forgot to pack They do chartered blue water freedive specific trips also. Just got back from the Waikoloa area (North of Kona) The water is incredible over there You will kick yourself if you don't bring your gear.

The vis is usually spectacular. This fishing is usually very poor near shore. Tiny skittish reef fish are challenging to shot though. Just bring a small very quick gun

Re: Kailua Kona in 20 days

Hi- I am heading to Kona with the wife and kids July 7th. Planning on bringing a couple of guns and dive gear. I would be stoked to get any leads on spearing and line freedive. What days are you going to be there?
Thanks Guillermo
