Yellowtail 100 yards off the beach
I was out diving yesterday for WSB and this YT is just meandering outside of the kelp. Has this ever happened to you? I was shocked at first to see a fish like that so close to shore.

i shot a 45+lb yellowtial the other day while hunting whiteseabass in the the middle of a thick kelp bed. it was significantly more of a cluster**** than shooting a 65 lb white, thought the yellow was going to drown me. it didnt.

first fish I ever shot was a YT in about 10' of water probably 30 yards, if that off of a spot in Newport Beach.

not with steel but i have caught yt on rod and reel in southern baja casting lures just past the shore break.
