Philip,
send me an address at my email, dennis@20fathoms.com, and I';ll send something up for the contest. Wish I could be there. I lived in oregon decades ago, probably before most of you were born, and always wanted to dive the coast up there.

Now that's generosity!

Ok Phil. I'm in provided it's on the 1st. I don't think I can do the backup date.

Re: PNW Freedive Spearfishing Tournament!

Newbie & Fishyak, it'll be great to have you. I wouldn't be surprised if Barview provides some winning fish! Clayton, it'll have to be unquestionably bad conditions for the date change. I think the odds are good. Looking forward to seeing you there. Hopefully we can add in some of those extra categories.

I forgot to mention that Josh Humbert it donating a Tahitian Pearl necklace as well. The prize pool is well on the way here gents. If we can get 15+ participants, then China Rock Bass and Scallops will go up onto the award board with a prize attached.

Dennis, the water up here is amazing. There are complaints of cold now and then, but that's a small price to pay for the quantity of fish in number and variety. The size and health of the reefs and low numbers of divers add ever more to the experience. Thanks again for donating to the competition!

The pearl necklace I'll be donating as a prize is gender neutral. It's a single pearl on a leather cord, kind of a modern take on the puka shell necklace worn by surfers in years past. Here's a link with a pic of a friend, Jamie Sterling wearing it while getting barreled at Teahupo'o.

IM in. I was supposed to be getting my 7mm this week but will wait until next week. Josh I live in portland too and we should get together or whoever else and clean up the clackamas river. Haven't done that in a couple of years.

Annual cleanup on the 10th, as in today? I would be interested in one later on, possibly in Sept.

Re: PNW Freedive Spearfishing Tournament!

Good morning, thinking about joining in your tourney, and notice that the 3:30 check-in time really crowds the 1:30 ish high tide, for tide sensitive locales such as good ol' Barview.

Re: PNW Freedive Spearfishing Tournament!

That is a great point Tomo, and one that I've been mulling over for a little while. I'm considering extending the time a little bit, but for now it's only a consideration. I'll post to the forum if the weigh in time gets moved back for tides.

Another thought, is it too late to send a tracing of my hand so that the speargun crafter can get the grip just right?

Re: PNW Freedive Spearfishing Tournament!

Random question; does anyone taking part in the tourney have kids coming to the BBQ afterwards? My GF has two and I'm curious to see if they'd have some playmates...
