1st Louisiana Freediving Only Spearfishing Tournament

The Aqua Aces are hosting the first LA Freediving Rodeo this year, July 23 - 26. Weigh-in will be held at Lafreniere Park on Sunday, July 26, 12pm - 2pm.

Entry Fee: only $15!

Eligible fish are: Amberjack, Cobia, Grouper, King Mackerel, Mahi Mahi, Mangrove Snapper, Miscellaneous, Red Snapper (if in-season), Sheepshead, Wahoo, Yellowfin Tuna.

GR, you have no idea how cool that would be if you guys made it down here for this thing.

We're really excited about it - even all my scuba buddies. The cool thing is that a lot of the guys I know who really just scuba dive now want to try out freediving.. the rodeo gives them a good excuse.

Awesome man, it's been a peace of cake so far. I love the sport. I wasn't looking to make friends when I got into spearfishing, but man, the guys in the LA clubs have been cool as shit. I consider myself fortunate to be a part of this thing.

Hopefully I'll get to dive with you again this year and do more than vomit for half the day!

Not only can Texans go, but diving is open to all Gulf waters, so if you're more comfortable diving your area, you can just show up for the weigh-in time / date.

Our camp near Venice is coming along nicely. It will be done in time for the tournament. Maybe we can have a get together for those diving out of the Venice area.

I've talked to a bunch of guys who are interested from all the clubs so far. Unfortunately, our buddy Dauzat will be rodnreeling Faux Pas rodeo that weekend. Maybe next year we can push it up a week earlier.

Yes, the scoring format is the same as HDR and our regular rodeo: 3pts. for first, 2 for second, 1 for third place fish in each category. The final copy of the rules should be posted to our site in the next week or so.
