Finished my second build - 29" midhandle

Just finished my second gun build.
29" laminated purpleheart and teak.
Neptonics hardware
reverse mech
AR-15 midhandle grip
Riffe low profile reel
Two 16mm bands

Abalone inlay of a tautog with diamonds covering some less than perfect drill work

Had the gun in the water 3 times now and could not be happier with the performance. Has plenty of power despite it's short size and swings through the water with little résistance.

Only my second build so would love some feedback on areas to improve.
I will be gutting my first build this winter to rebuild it.

Fits a 5/16 modified JBL 28" shaft for days where I can only see 2-3ft. But I have been mostly using a 3/8 shaft 36" when I have vis. I like the overhang for aiming and the heavy shaft punches through bass at 8 feet.

8 feet is probably optimistic. I use 2 16mm at 350%. I took a bass at at around 7 feet this past weekend.

Thanks for the tip! How is it to work with? I'm all sorts of done with purpleheart. I like to work with wood not against it. Purpleheart was a battle.

Re: Finished my second build - 29" midhandle

I did 95 size and its good if you make sure its dry before start work otherwise it will bend ,after finish I have calculate the required ballast its the highest even more than the mahogany ,ratio was 0.64 so 1 kg gun wood required approximate 640 grams to sink slowly that's why I prefer it for small size thin gun below my new design I hope i ll finish soon .

Don't Want to sound like an ass, but why do you have your bands loaded out of the water for a picture?? Gun looks awesome. The fish in lay is a great touch.
