Re: How much float line do I need

I use about 60 feet of 5/16 vinyl tubing with a 300 pound mono core. You can buy the tubing at the hardware store by the foot, and the mono you get any fishing tackle store. If you need more detailed instructions on how to assemble PM me. I dive mainly from my kayak in 40 feet or less

Where are you located?

What did/are you doing about the connection to the speargun?

This works GREAT for a beginners float line. $8. Too long?= cut in in half. When you get better=dive deeper then just tie the remaining 50ft back on. Done.
Comes with a nice splicing needle, line always floats. Easy to rig to snap on/off to gun/float in a second

I drilled a hole in the handle and attached a 250kg screw in carabiner and then attached a d shackle that connects the float line to the float

What are the depths that you hunt in, shore dives could mean shallow or deep. Where are you located?

Re: How much float line do I need

Giving a location will help posters give you better advice, as diving varies from East to West coast, and then North to South along each coast.

BTW, not that this matters, Whitney, but are you a gal spearo? Just curious.

Re: How much float line do I need

Not sure what the diving conditions are like in those parts.

Suggestion: Call Neptonics Australia and get a recommendation. Likely, one of their 75 foot bungee floatlines would be ideal.

Good luck, DUDE!

Re: How much float line do I need

Since you still havnt told us the depths you work in, here is some general information. I was told by a wise man once(sir casanova), that you should use double of the depth you are working in. So 50 feet youd want 70-100, 30ft 60-75, 20ft 40-50. This rule has held true over the years.
