Monterey Beach Closures this weekend 2-25-17
Went over to Monterey today with Bryan to dive (fish taco Sunday). Weather looked good swell 4-6'. We get over to Carmel River, beaches closed due to high bacteria. Viz looked terrible, headed inside of bay, just as bad with more closures. Viz bad and no kelp anywhere. Report said that the Pacific Grove pumping station had a power outage Monday night and the bay is full of bacteria. I spoke with a scuba diver near the breakwall and he had viz of 3'. Just a little report if your thinking of heading over. Closure will be lifted 3 days after the Sunday storm after retesting.
Stay safe

Re: Monterey Beach Closures this weekend 2-25-17
Morning Bob,
Yesterday was the day! My boys and I dove Stillwater yesterday and had a blast. The swell was down and the vis was around 6' or so. I was told by other divers that it was better farther out, but we just went to the rock. All the fish were in holes, but that's my kind of hunting, so I had a blast. We cruised around on Thursday, checking things out. The Carmel area had the brownest water I've ever seen. The wind was really whipping Thursday as well, so the boys and I went up to Sand City and played with the stunt kites. Ron. |

I was out there Saturday AM and was stoked to take a nice bright blue Ling and some random RF home for dinner.
https://youtu.be/xuyDpUIPBIE Vis was up to ~20 at high tide offshore, but dropped significantly one tide turned and started dropping... Sincerely, Jim

Wow! Very nice Jim.
You must have been quite a ways out and diving deep for vis like that. Ron. |

I'm still not 100% from a knee injury I got back in October but feel like I am getting a little back of strength back each time I get out there. Felt great to be paddling and diving and chasing fishies around again. Sincerely, Jim
