Smile Spearfishing off Miami (Blackpoint)

Hello!

I am new to this forum and I wanted to introduce myself and announce that I plan to go spearfishing off of Blackpoint Marina soon and have space for one or two guys on our boat. I am using a 25ft SeaVee with a Merc 250.

I have been spearfishing for almost all my life and I would like to slowly get into pelagic spearishing for wahoo, tuna, dolphin, etc. However, I have no experience nor knowledge of the subject. I am pretty efficient around reefs and I am comfortable going 40-50 ft but I want to push myself to go 60-80ft. Anyway, I plan on going spearfishing in about 3-4 weeks and when summer hits, I am out there every weekend.

Is there anyone here that can help my best friend and I with this goal of ours to get into open water spearfishing? If so, please reply and you are welcomed to join us. If not, I'd still be glad to take any advice from anyone about this.

Who are we?
My best friend and I are 23 year old, Miami natives. He studies biomedical engineering and I am in Law school. We have been fishing our whole lives.

Thanks,

Falcon

Cheers

hey man the dolphin are already in got into some big schools in less then 150 recently. The tuna have been jumping all over the place as well.
I haven't been able to dive since December as i was dealing with a serious sinus infection. I fish off a 17 and usually have room for 1 if you want to dive/fish key largo. good luck and stay safe!

Hey I'm in Orlando, but I have a good work schedule and can make it down it down there frequently. I have been freediving 13 years, and have been spearfishing for most of that. I have minimal experience in pelagics, just a few cobias and mahi's off weed patches and random flotsam. Shoot me a DM and I'll send you my number.

Re: Spearfishing off Miami (Blackpoint)

We fish mostly in Homestead. Not a fan of blackpoint 😂 but we got our own boat too. We know some spots but not experts like some here I have seen have way more credible spots when it comes to peligics. We have caught our shares and missed our share too. We mostly target reefs too but every now and again my husband loves to dive deep dives and wreck dives or weed patches for Dolphins. Hit me up on a message if you want to go with us or vise versa with you and your dive buddy and we can share tips.

Re: Spearfishing off Miami (Blackpoint)

Hey everyone, just wanting to introduce myself. I am in the Hollywood/ft. Lauderdale area for spearfishing. I tend to do beach dives but miami is not a far drive for me and so I am always open to going on a boat especially for pelagic and I will chip in for gas and etc. I am comfortable free diving to 60' right now and am taking a course that will help me go deeper towards the three digits. I am always open to learning new spots, meeting new people, and eating fresh fish.

Re: Spearfishing off Miami (Blackpoint)

I know it's an old thread, but I'm new in town and always looking to dive new spots with new partners. I'm getting older (53) but still in shape (and can shoot some nice fish too ).
I don't have a boat but have lots of experience (both reef and bluewater) willing to share. I normally dive with my 16 years old son who lately is shooting more fish than me...

Of course will chip in with expenses.
