Very good idea on the reels Jon, that pivoting mount is just plain smart!

Re: Ulusub Spearfishing Co. New Speargun Range
Jon promised me several times he would send me pics, still none to this date. I ordered/paid for my gun on 3-28-12 and was told I'd receive it in a month, I'm still waiting. Going to Costa Rica in less than two weeks and was hoping to have possession of the gun by then... doesn't look like that is going to transpire.

Re: Ulusub Spearfishing Co. New Speargun Range
Jon, is busy & I fully understand... Just bummed out I won't have my new gun. I'm staying on my friends boat. Flying into San Jose, getting on a bus & going to Playa de Coco first point of entrance for customs on a boat. Then going out to the Coco island for a week, and playing out by ear from there.

Re: Ulusub Spearfishing Co. New Speargun Range
Hi Tim,
I will get your Custom Camo 110 Mid Handle Halibut Hammerer shipped soon. Guns should all be done soon, just waiting on the Shafts and Tips and Reels to arrive next week. Then everything ships. It's not easy for one person to build 20 guns in one month, but things are getting done. I went through our 30 emails just now, and the first mention of this trip to Costa Rica was yesterday. I read about it here first. I do feel terrible that my production is taking longer than it should and may result in you eating just rice and beans with no fresh Pargo in CR. I will make it up to you with the free custom Camo paint job, and by making you a great gun with great reel at a great price. I'm considering sending you one of my own Reef guns for your trip. But I do want to ask one question first. In your emails to me before you ordered your 110 mid handle, you said that you had just ordered a mid sized gun from another manufacturer. Do you have a gun for your trip?

Re: Ulusub Spearfishing Co. New Speargun Range
Jon, Sorry if my post came across the wrong way, I wrote it waiting for a connector flight while in Seattle, WA this morning on my Droid. Now I feel bad you took it the wrong way, I'm just bummed I won't be able to show off your gun to my buddies (I've been bragging about for a week now that I was bring the secret reef weapon).
The Costa Rica trip came about 2 weeks ago, I have many friends who live/cruise on their sailboats, and this is one of them. Last minute trips are the best, especially on a boat in Mexico or Costa Rica. I'm fortunate that I have a job that allows me take time off in situations like this. I did purchase a gun from John at Koah, and received it two weeks ago. My buddies are flush with guns, so I have many to choose from. Jon, I appreciate everything that you're doing for me, I didn't know you were waiting on materials. Now I understand why the gun hasn't been shipped yet. I know what it's like being a one man show and I fully understand where you're coming from. So please accept my apology & keep me posted on the status of the gun. |

Re: Ulusub Spearfishing Co. New Speargun Range
No way, I'm the one in the wrong here. I feel terrible for being late shipping orders. It's driving me nuts waiting on materials to get here that should have been here already. I just wanted to make sure you had a gun for your trip. If you didn't, and you were looking at sitting on a boat Sharpening Bamboo.. I would send over something that would at least keep your belly full.

Johnny P. email me some imagery, if there's a particular backdrop you'd like to meld into.. These are Epoxy Resin Tint Camos.. which, will still show the wood grain. I think the guns look best just wood.

Funny you mentioned bamboo, I have used hose clamps, zip ties, bamboo, shock cord, & a BBQ fork to make a rudimentary spear.

Re: Ulusub Spearfishing Co. New Speargun Range
I've nailed a few dinners with Bamboo. Quite effective for Flatfish, Cuttlefish, and other slow movers.. very simple. But, not really fun when you are actually hungry.

Re: Ulusub Spearfishing Co. New Speargun Range
Jon,
Was there any thought to putting a magnet under the line anchor on your Euro series like a Riffe Euro? or is that an option? I was messing with one yesterday and it sure would help keep things together when loading. Just a thought. |
