Nice structure. I've never seen a scamp while diving. Do they look jet black like that from the side or is it just the video? When you pull them up close they appear more marbled grey.

Always awesome to see the fish at those depths. Scamp just kept reappearing after every shot. Like a cookie factory belt lol. Amazing twin unicorn carbos make that huge gag look like a baby. Great shooting and seeing the videos Dan.

That vis is awesome! Cool to see a whole wreck like that come into view. Looks like a gnarly wreck, any generic history on it like its age or how it sunk?

Here's a cool dive on a new spot that I didn't realize was wreckage until it came into view. About 200'.

Helitrox, usually a 20-10. Just enough to get PO2 down to a 1.4-1.5 and enough He to take the narcosis edge off. Hows the diving been over your way?

Grouper and a lot of other fish can change colors pretty fast, and you see it a lot when they get shot. I'm sure you've probably seen in on gags and hogs, but maybe just never thought about it. You know how sometimes when you stone one, half of it goes quickly to a lighter color? I guess because you severed the spinal nerves and they lose control of their coloration.

Dominant male lizards get all dark when they think they're big & bad, but when you catch them and they realize how small they really are, they go pretty quick to a real timid light color.

I'm not sure if the scamp are dark because they feel they're dominant or if they're dark for other reasons like camouflage or attracting a mate, but the lighter marbled pattern is their "normal" pattern and is how all the ones I've seen in shallower have been.

Hogs switch their pattern like crazy to try to hide.

Re: Do I shoot or do I run!!!

Im not a tank diver by any means so forgive my lack of knowledge. Can you get more drops in doing such quick dives? 200'+ is far beyond anything I have ever done (also never have I done a mix/tech dive) but I know gas buildups limit your time down. I would also assume your mix's and quick drops would help to offset buildup?

Side note that is some hella production... impressive the ammount of fish you can collect that quickly!

When they're all darked up like that usually means they don't really feel threatened at the time. Dan making careful shots and getting them on the stringer helps keep the rest from getting all spooky.

If I have learned nothing over the years it is to focus on making the best shot possible on the first fish. It's sometimes hard to do when the spot has multiple nice fish on the way down but if you pick your target and stone the first one it almost guaranties a shot on the next one. Also note how calm Dan is in the water... Makes a huge difference in how the fish act, how much air will be used and how productive overall you will be. You don't want your target fish excited and they will key off how you act and move in the water.
