Out of JP 8-7-19

Went about a mile past the JP light and turned around like everybody else. Too rough. Marine forecast was way off. Only boat i saw still heading out was the Florida Fisherman. Water was a dark brown color.

that west wind can be nasty.. I just love when they say 8 knots winds and it ends up 20.. straight out of the west.. white caps and large swells... they just cant seem to get it right for sure.. I was going to go friday, but dont know due to the straight west wind....

Re: Out of JP 8-7-19

we tried several weeks ago out of clearwater and put the bow of my boat into a wave at the outside marker.. and my boat has a nice high bow.. we turned around also.. not worth the headache you get from pounding all day..

I would of loved Wednesday having the weatherman tied down on the bow pulpit while I was taking waves over the bow on the 49' boat. No mask or snorkel either for him. Suppose to be 10 knots and under 2 foot waves.

what ever happened to the light east wind in the morning, and the seabreeze in the afternoon during the summer?... seems like that pattern never happens anymore... use to be a staple in the summer month's...and the weather forecast is never right anymore...would be nice if they could hit it one day!!

The west to southwest dominant flow we have had this summer is likely the leftover effects of the strong El Niņo we had this winter and spring. Even though the El Niņo has now effectively dissipated, it can take 3 to 6 months for our weather here in Florida to return to our easterly dominant flow. This El Niņo seems to be extra stubborn though.

Re: Out of JP 8-7-19

Cancelled our trip for 8/10/19 based off of spearboard posts.

Did not want to subject ourselves to the beat down, so will access the freezer option and get geared up for SPO!
