Costa Rica

I'm gonna be in Costa Rica Jan19th-Feb6th. I'm new to spearfishing and this will be my first legit trip. Any pointers and advice will be much appreciated. I plan on going out with aqua azul charters one or two days. Also, might be heading down to panama to Morro Negrito to spearfish with those guys for a few days towards the end. Any advice for shore diving I between those trips? Thanks

Re: Costa Rica

I'm going down the 22nd through the 2nd of Feb. I'll be going out with www.costaricaspearfishing.com on the 28th, 30th and 31st. I'm sure they'd take one more, it's out of the same bay that Aqua Azul Charters is out of. I'd be happy to go out too with you for a day with Aqua Azul. You can IM me if you're interested with your email and we can try and arrange something. I'm staying up in Marbella at the Sanctuary Condo's. Let's kill some fish!

Re: Costa Rica

I shore/kayak dived rocky coastline in the Playa Flamingo and surrounding areas for 6 days in June. Viz was 20-30 feet from day to day. Harvested triggers, snapper, hawkfish, small groupers, parrot fish, and lobster. Also saw jacks and roosters but not what we were geared to shoot at.

We didn't get out to some of the pinnacles within sight of shore, but they probably offer a steeper dropoff and it's where I'd go with no local knowledge if I was looking to take a larger dogtooth or something like that.

Re: Costa Rica

Thanks Josh. That's perfect info that I was looking for. I was planning on taking a charter out a few days, but also looking to do some shore dives. Feeling pretty confident in both now. Snappers, groupers, and lobster!! Thanks
