Re: Roller Spearguns - whats the fuss about?

Right through the noggin is what we like to see! (The last Tuna). Nice close up of the Whale Shark. The gun is quite a zippy shooter, which it needs to be with the Tuna whizzing around, but when they oblige by traversing the firing line then they are yours.

As for sorting out the new gun try it in parts, with and without shooting line and see what happens. Often something will show up which when taken together confuses the picture as everything happens so fast, so load up the bands in combinations to check out when and where the shooting is turning to crap.

Just looking at your 120 hybrid gun the bands seem to be rather fat as they can just be squeezed onto it!
The window rollers for the double wrap bands have been carried across from the band battery guns. They are also used on the Oceanic double roller.

Kon? 2fishin2? Címon Vela owners, someone take the big girl for a spin in the pool, fire off a dozen rounds at any old 8 metre target with the goPro rolling
I have tried to upload videos, but unable to. What format should they be in?
I have many videos pool testing 135 Vela use a 10mm hunt shaft. But only out to 7 meters.
Also pool testing Alemania 100 special double roller with 9mm shaft.
145 mono roller with8.5mm shaft
125 inverter with 9.5mm shaft

On my last trip to French Polynesia a friend had the Alemanni 135 vela and 120 hybrid in carbon. Very impressive carbon quality. I weighted my wooden vela and the carbon vela, both weighed the same. my wooden 135 vela will almost float, perfect balance with a 10mm shaft and 1.6mm cable with 2.5 raps.
The carbon 135 was just a little front heaver. But only just. I thought the hybrid gun was a little thick for tracking once it was loaded. The 135 Vela is more powerful but its a big gun.

I do build guns, but just for myself. Im building a 135 inverter, 115 mono and a 135 mono. I built previously 2 x 115 and a 120 mono with just 2 loading with 8.5mm shaft. They shoot very accurate out to 6+ meters with quite a lot of power. So I thought I would build a 135 (165 total length) Not sure how the loading of 19mm bands will be.

It would be wonderful if something you could share these videos. I am so there is a lot to learn from them for all of us!

I guess most people upload the videos to YouTube and post a link to the clip.

if you already use Dropbox it’s an easy option for video - upload the video in .mp4 format to your Dropbox, click the Share button, ‘Copy Link’, and paste that link into your post

Great shooting! Not easy to nail fast moving fish at distance. Some of those shots looked like they were 6m +!
