~*The First Unofficial Spearboard Static Breath Holding Contest*~
So I thought this would be fun. Let's make a contest to see who can hold the longest static breath.
The contest lasts for the entire month of February 2009. After that lets name the champion. I'll leave my time out until later cause it's nothing special. But I'm curious to see who can claim the goal as: "Top Static Breath Holder on Spearboard" Rules:
http://www.vickiblackwell.com/timer.html Remember don't cheat! Hold your nose tight so there's no doubt of you superior breath holding abilities. Thanks for playing everyone. Julie aka "Divewise" won it all with an amazing 5.27 And props to "ocean_hunter" with his 3.01 to 5.05 time. An improvement of 2min and 4 secs!

Re: ~*Static Breath Holding Contest*~
You're talking about taking sessions of a quick breath in and then breathing out very slowly. As long as it's not hyperventilation I think it's fine. Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
And post some times!

Re: ~*Static Breath Holding Contest*~
one minute 56 seconds. Started breathing up during the second line of the first post. If you don't cheat unless you are in bitching shape it is going to be only about 1/2 or less of what you are capable of when you do a proper breath up and warm up.
Freediving is just like any other sport. You have to warm up to get going. I expect some 4-5 minute posts on here with guys doing 10min-1 hour breath ups it is very possible. Breath hold isn't nearly as important as being in the right place at the right time!
