Putting distance in perspective.
First off, I enjoy reading all these dive stories.
Anyhow my question is this. I assume that when your talking about visibility (10' vis) your point of reference is from mask. When you guys talk about a 5' or a 12' shot, what is your beginning point of reference; spear tip? Thanks Steve 5869 |

When I talk about that shot, I'm referring to speartip, yes. I don't know about the rest of the board.

Re: Putting distance in perspective.
I start from the tips of my fins to make me sound really cool
In reality, from the tip of the spear.

Re: Putting distance in perspective.
When I say my gun has an 8-10 foot range, I mean distance from me to the fish. When I say most of my shots are less than 4 feet, I mean distance from my spear tip to the fish.

Re: Putting distance in perspective.
I use the tip of my spear. It is easy, fish on the = under 9' 1/2 feet, no fish = 10' feet.
