Question Shaft length compensation for slip-tip shaft?

Question for those of you who use slip-tips... it’ll be my first time, so I want to get it right. My gun says to use 150cm shafts. The ones that come with it are euro single flopper. If I want to use slip tips instead, do I need to get a shorter shaft?

Example: JBL’s slip tip that screws on a 7mm shaft is 4”. If I put this on a 150cm shaft, the shaft would be 160cm. Should I get a 140cm shaft instead so the total length is 150cm after adding the slip tip?

Re: Shaft length compensation for slip-tip shaft?

Short answer: Yes. Generally go down one size when using a slip tip. Take a look at our website, we have a pretty good selection of shafts for euro and american notch guns (and slip tips too). Free shipping for orders over $100.

Re: Shaft length compensation for slip-tip shaft?

Besides the added length of the slip tip itself, that you should consider so as to not end up with a longer than stock shaft... you will have to take into consideration also the additional weight. If the shaft, in whichever lengh you choose, ends up being heavier, you may need to remove ballast from the muzzle (if there is any), or getting an even shorter shaft to compensate.
