Re: Why Don't Fish Swim Upside Down?
Actually some fish do swim upside down.
I have seen mangrove snappers swim upside down many times when cleaning boat bottoms, swimming along the bottom of the hull upside down, I think they think the boat bottom is the sea floor. |

Even if fish are weightless due to internal buoyancy controls they still are subject gravity. I expect to see a grant check soon.....

Re: Why Don't Fish Swim Upside Down?
I dont know what the hell the article is on about, but fish can and do swim upside down if they want to or are sick. They control their buoyancy and direction with their swim bladder. Alot of times if they are very sick they have a hard time controlling their swim bladder (google swim bladder disease). However fish stay upright due to mechanical features (dorsal fin hitting the ground) or camouflage (from the top its dark, from the bottom its light). This article provided no good information, its as if a child wrote it.
This is a thousand word article to state "cause fish want to"... We really need to fix our education system cause this is a great example of what has come out. Last edited by rowow; 11-14-2017 at 08:46 AM. Reason: Added thousand word... |

Re: Why Don't Fish Swim Upside Down?
I have several times seen fish, swimming inverted, on the roof of caves.
I agree with the sentiment put forward by rowow... "because they want to....." as well as with barnaclebill. kmoose has a good point as well. Go well. Mike. |
